Looking for a Stocky replacement?

Shopify shut Stocky down on August 31, 2026. If that is where your purchase orders used to start, this page is about the job Stocky did: what Shopify offers in its place, and the part no tool does.

01 · First, in their words

What Shopify says to do now.

Shopify’s help page, Migrating from Stocky to Shopify inventory management, says Stocky is no longer available as of August 31, 2026, and that you keep read-only access to export your Stocky data for at least 90 days. It points you to inventory in the Shopify admin and Shopify POS, and to Sidekick, which, in Shopify’s words, “drafts the purchase order or transfer for you.” It names no third-party app to replace Stocky.

One app, Prediko, describes itself as Shopify’s officially recommended Stocky alternative; Shopify’s own migration page names no app. The useful question is not which app looks blessed. It is who owns the order-by date once something drafts the PO.

02 · If you want software again

The routes Shopify leaves open.

Shopify’s own tools

Inventory in the Shopify admin and Shopify POS, with Sidekick drafting purchase orders and transfers. The route Shopify’s own migration page describes.

A planning app

Forecasting and replenishment apps from the Shopify App Store. Inventory Planner, from Sage, is the long-standing one, strongest for Shopify and multichannel DTC. Our page on it →

The quiet third option

Skip the subscription. A model built once on your own catalog, in files you can open, kept true by a weekly rhythm. That is the Volumetris build, and for most brands it is the whole tooling story. What it covers →

03 · The part no tool does

Sidekick drafts the PO. Somebody still decides.

A draft is only as good as the numbers under it. The failure pattern we see inside live accounts is almost never the forecast math. It is the inputs drifting away from reality while the recommendations stay confidently precise. Three ways it happens:

What driftsWhy the tool cannot save you
01dates

Order-ready dates move in the real world first

A supplier slips two weeks and mentions it in a chat thread, not in your software. Every downstream recommendation is now built on a date that no longer exists, and the tool has no way to know.

02counts

Two systems, two truths

Shopify shows units on hand that the 3PL does not, or a location count disagrees with the shelf. One of those numbers is wrong, the draft cannot tell which, and it will happily size a purchase order against the wrong one.

03drafts

Drafts are not decisions

A drafted purchase order is not a plan. Somebody checks its quantity and date against what the supplier will really ship, approves the deposit and owns the order-by date, or the draft sits in the admin and becomes next quarter’s stockout.

In one client catalog, Homefield Apparel’s, 17,621 units sat invisible across 83 SKUs with no mapping at all, four systems each running their own SKU scheme. No forecast can see stock filed under the wrong name. The reconciliation surfaced it. The record →

04 · The other purchase

Buy the decision, not another dashboard.

The In-Stock Engine is managed inventory planning: one build that models your catalog, then a weekly rhythm of suggested POs, transfers and risk flags, run by a dedicated account lead and analysts. It runs beside Shopify’s own tools or an app you already pay for, or replaces the subscription with the built workbook. Both are normal. The product is the same either way: order-by dates that are owned, every week, by name.

Worth twenty minutes if you hold 50 or more SKUs of real stock on 30 to 120 day lead times. Under that, book nothing: the free map and the health score are built for exactly you.

05 · Asked every time

The three questions this page gets.

Can you work from our Stocky data?

Export it while you still can: Shopify’s migration page gives at least 90 days of read-only access after the shutdown. The build works from your platform exports, your supplier terms and whatever history you can hand over. Configuring third-party software is not the product, so this is not a migration service.

Is Sidekick enough?

For a small catalog it may be. Under 50 SKUs, or before you hold real inventory with real lead times, a drafted purchase order and your own judgment is genuinely the right answer, and we will say so on the call.

What does it cost next to a tool subscription?

Different line items for different jobs. The build is $1,500 once, Core is $1,250 a month, Partner is $2,250, published in full on the services page. Tool pricing is set by the vendor and changes, which is why no tool prices appear on this page.

Stocky, Shopify, Shopify POS and Sidekick are Shopify products. Inventory Planner is a product of Sage. Prediko belongs to its owner. Shopify’s guidance is drawn from its public help page, October 2026, and appears for factual comparison only. No affiliation or endorsement is implied, in either direction.
